  1. No personal data

    Bop does not collect, store or share any personal data. There is no account to create and nothing to sign in to.

  2. No analytics or tracking

    The app contains no analytics, tracking or advertising code. This website doesn’t use tracking scripts or cookies either.

  3. Your recordings stay on your Mac

    Recordings are processed and stored only on your Mac, in the place you choose. Bop never sends your recordings anywhere. If you share a GIF, you do so yourself, through the app you drop it into. While you review a recording, Bop keeps temporary working files in its private app folder on your Mac. They’re deleted when you save, discard or quit. GIFs you copy or drag out are kept briefly in Bop’s cache so the app you drop them into can read them, and are removed within a day.

  4. No audio

    Bop doesn’t record audio, and doesn’t ask for microphone access.

  5. Screen Recording permission

    macOS asks you to grant Bop Screen Recording permission. Bop uses it only to capture the area you select, and only while you’re recording. You can turn it off any time in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Screen & System Audio Recording.

  6. Settings on your Mac

    Bop remembers a few preferences locally on your Mac: whether to show the cursor, whether Esc stops recording, your keyboard shortcut, and the last folder you saved to. They’re never sent anywhere. Deleting the app removes them.

  7. The App Store and this website

    If you download Bop from the Mac App Store, Apple handles the purchase and download under Apple’s privacy policy. We don’t receive any of your personal information from Apple. This website is hosted on Cloudflare, which may process basic technical data such as IP addresses to deliver and protect the site. We don’t use that data to identify or track you.

  8. Children

    Because Bop collects no data at all, it collects none from children either.

  9. Changes

    If this policy changes, we’ll update this page and the effective date above.
